Onboard SEE MONSTER!

News 23 Sep 22

SEE MONSTER, a decommissioned offshore platform transformed into one of the UK’s largest public art installations, may now be boarded from Saturday 24 September. Visitors will be able to enter onto the structure itself, and journey up to the top, entirely for free.

The installation is situated inside the Tropicana on Weston-super-Mare’s seafront, and is one of 10 government funded creative projects commissioned by UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK.
After voyaging across the North Sea, and arriving on the shores of Weston-super-Mare in July, SEE MONSTER has undergone an extraordinary transformation.

With accessibility considered at every stage, SEE MONSTER towers at 35-metres tall, over four distinct levels. It features: a kinetic installation made up of 6,000 individual pieces, forming the monster’s shimmering scales; a wild garden of grasses, plants and trees grown to thrive in a seaside micro-climate; a 10-metre high waterfall; a curly slide; kinetic wind sculptures; artist and scientist collaborations, creating renewable designs for sustainable energy generation; a seated amphitheatre with unrivalled views out to sea from seaside telescopes; and a broadcast studio at the base of the structure. Hosts will also be present onboard the monster, to show you around and to answer any questions.

SEE MONSTER will be open daily from 9am – 9pm until Saturday 5 November, and is completely FREE.

There is no need to book, but to find out more about planning your visit, please take a look at the HERE on the website. Please also be aware that this is an outdoor installation; visiting SEE MONSTER will be weather-dependent, so check our website and social media channels for updates before embarking on your journey…

We look forward to welcoming you to SEE MONSTER!
