Scientist
British Antarctic Survey

Ella has her heart in the ice and her head in the clouds. She is a climate scientist and passionate communicator who attempts to translate complex science into language we can all understand.

Her research focuses on how the polar atmosphere affects Antarctic ice melt, and how aviation impacts the climate by changing high-altitude clouds. In 2021 she was featured in the Sunday Times Green Power list as one of the UK’s top ten environmentalists under thirty, and has become a go-to expert for print and broadcast media. She regularly appears on national TV and radio to talk about climate change, and runs a YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/c/DrGilbz. She also speaks at live events, schools, festivals, museums and more.
