Dr Amélie Kirchgaessner is a registered STEM Ambassador and has been involved in various Science Communication and Outreach events over the years.

Since 2001 she has worked first at the University of Hamburg and then at the British Antarctic Survey, Cambridge, as a Polar Atmospheric Scientist. Her group is one of very few worldwide to have obtained in-situ measurements of clouds in polar regions. A recent career highlight was the involvement in
Mosaic Expedition, a unique yearlong international research effort, based around a research icebreaker frozen into the Arctic sea ice. The aim of this campaign was to improve our understanding of the impact changes in the Arctic have on weather and climate around the world.
